Meghan Markle and Netflix executives, following the lukewarm reception and poor ratings of Season 2 of the Sussexes’ docuseries. According to multiple insider leaks, Meghan allegedly confronted Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos in a fiery closed-door meeting, blaming the platform for the series' underperformance and threatening to pull future projects.
The once-lucrative partnership between Netflix and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appears to be on shaky ground. What began as a groundbreaking multi-million-dollar content deal in 2020 has now turned into a PR nightmare, with critics slamming Season 2 of their documentary series as “tired,” “tone-deaf,” and “out of touch.”
"You Undermined Me!"
Insiders claim that during the meeting, which took place at Netflix’s Los Angeles headquarters last week, Meghan arrived “visibly upset” and quickly escalated the discussion into a confrontation.
“She came in expecting an apology,” said one executive who requested anonymity. “Instead, she started pointing fingers at the marketing team, the algorithm, even the thumbnails used for promotion. She accused Netflix of setting her up to fail.”
At one point, Meghan allegedly shouted, “You undermined me, and you sabotaged this project!”, referring to the way the series was promoted — or, in her opinion, under-promoted.
Threats of Legal and Contractual Fallout
Sources claim that Meghan’s frustration boiled over into threats of legal action and possible early termination of their content deal. According to a senior executive, she warned that if Netflix didn’t publicly support her and “salvage” the reputation of the series, she and Harry would consider pulling their future projects — including an upcoming children’s animated series and a memoir-based miniseries rumored to be in development.
