Why Everyone Hates Princess Beatrice

Royal Expectations, Public Frustrations, and a Lifetime in the Shadows

In the world of British royalty, popularity is everything—and sadly for Princess Beatrice, she just can’t seem to win over the public. Despite being a senior member of the royal family by blood, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has long been plagued by criticism, controversy, and comparisons she simply can't escape.

So why does it seem like everyone hates Princess Beatrice?

Let’s start with the obvious: her father. Prince Andrew’s disastrous ties to Jeffrey Epstein, his infamous BBC interview, and subsequent royal disgrace cast a long, dark shadow over Beatrice’s public image. While she’s never been directly involved, the public has struggled to separate her from the scandal that rocked the monarchy. “It’s guilt by association,” one royal expert explains. “Fair or not, Beatrice carries the baggage of her father’s downfall.”

But that’s just the beginning.

Beatrice’s lifestyle has often raised eyebrows. From exotic vacations to designer wardrobes, critics say she’s enjoyed all the perks of royalty with few of the responsibilities. Unlike her cousins Prince William and Prince Harry—who served in the military and took on full-time duties—Beatrice has mostly remained behind the scenes. Yes, she has held jobs in the corporate world, but skeptics argue her roles were secured more through royal privilege than professional merit.

Then there’s the fashion. Who could forget that hat at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011? The bizarre, bow-shaped headpiece sparked international ridicule and launched a thousand memes. It was hardly the crime of the century, but it cemented Beatrice’s image as the awkward, out-of-touch royal who never quite fit the mold.

“She’s the royal people love to overlook—or mock,” one media commentator said. “She doesn’t have the charisma of Diana, the sense of duty of Anne, or the glamour of Kate. She just exists.”

Even Beatrice’s recent marriage to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi wasn’t free of side-eye. Some royal watchers questioned the low-key, private ceremony held during lockdown restrictions, while others raised eyebrows at Edo’s status as a property developer and single father—an unconventional match by royal standards.

Still, it's not all bad. In recent years, Beatrice has tried to rebrand herself as a working mother and advocate for dyslexia awareness. And in fairness, those who know her describe her as “kind-hearted, shy, and fiercely loyal.”
