Indian REM0VED TUM0RS that wouldn't stop growing! He UNDERWENT PR0CEDURES and is now GREAT!

The patient, Manbodh Bagh, hails from Titilagarh, Odisha, where he suffered from a rare condition called plexiform neurofibroma, a benign tumor arising from peripheral nerves.

This tumor had progressively grown for years, forming a massive 8+ kg mass that drooped from the right side of his face, destroying facial bone structure and significantly impacting his quality of life. Due to its size and extensive blood supply, prior attempts at removing the tumor were unsuccessful and deemed too risky because of potential torrential bleeding.

Hope arrived when Manbodh reached Aster CMI Hospital in Bangalore, where a multidisciplinary team of specialists from neurosurgery, plastic surgery, oncology, ENT, neuro-anaesthesia, and ophthalmology came together. Over six months, he underwent 16 carefully planned surgeries. Advanced preoperative tumor embolization was performed to reduce blood supply and minimize intraoperative bleeding risks.

Using a combination of CT imaging and 3D-printed facial models, surgeons meticulously planned tumor excision and facial reconstruction. After successful removal, plastic surgeons reconstructed his face and restored the damaged bone structure, improving both function and appearance. The team used skin grafts and other innovative techniques to cover surgical areas, ensuring optimal healing.

Manbodh’s transformation has been remarkable. After years of physical and social hardships, he is now free from the tumor and its debilitating effects. His case represents not only a surgical triumph but also the power of perseverance, interdisciplinary teamwork, and cutting-edge medical technology. The journey required tremendous patience and resilience from Manbodh and instilled hope among others suffering from similar conditions.

Such cases underscore the importance of comprehensive care for complex tumors and the critical role of modern healthcare infrastructure in India’s evolving medical landscape.
