Buckingham Palace has finally revealed the true identity of Archie and Lilibet after years of speculation. Archie and Lilibet, the children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, officially hold the titles of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
Originally, at birth, they were styled as Master Archie and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, their birth surnames deriving from the royal family’s house name, a combination of Windsor and Mountbatten.
Their titles were granted officially upon the coronation of King Charles III in 2023, who decreed that all of his grandchildren would receive princely titles.
This was publicly acknowledged at Lilibet’s christening, when they began to be recognized formally as prince and princess. Despite this, within private and official settings in recent years, Archie and Lilibet have also been referred to by the surname Sussex, aligning with their parents’ ducal titles.
