Catherine Appointed to Lead Order of the Garter in Unprecedented Move by Duke of Kent

Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has been appointed to lead the prestigious Order of the Garter in an unprecedented move facilitated by the Duke of Kent.

This rare honor, one of the highest orders of chivalry in Britain dating back to 1348, marks a significant elevation in Catherine's royal responsibilities and recognition of her outstanding public service.

The appointment reflects her growing influence and central role within the monarchy, as she increasingly takes on duties traditionally reserved for senior royals. The Duke of Kent, who has long been involved with the Order, played a key role in endorsing and facilitating this appointment, recognizing Catherine’s dedication to charitable work, public engagement, and modernizing the royal image.

This historic investiture took place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, during the annual Garter Day ceremony, where Catherine wore formal regalia symbolizing her new status. The move is part of a broader royal strategy to deepen Catherine’s involvement in national life and history, complementing King William's leadership role.
