The popular Netflix series "The Crown" has not depicted Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s recent saga and reportedly will not cover their story in the final seasons.
Creator Peter Morgan maintains a “20-year rule,” avoiding portrayals of currently ongoing events to ensure historical distance. As a result, the show has focused on earlier decades of the royal family’s history, including Princess Diana’s life, but ends before Harry’s relationship with Meghan and their eventual exit from royal duties.
Despite Meghan and Harry’s high-profile public revelations and media presence, "The Crown" has tactfully avoided dramatizing their story to date, partly because much of it is still unfolding and also due to sensitivities about depicting people who are alive and active.
The royal family reportedly maintains a cautious but engaged stance on the show, occasionally providing feedback on scripts.
However, the couple’s real-life conflicts, including explosive controversies like the Epstein scandal and palace crackdowns, have captivated public interest even more intensely than scripted dramas. This disconnect between real events and dramatic portrayal means that while Meghan and Harry’s story has “checked” or surprised many watchers in real life, "The Crown" fans must look elsewhere for dramatic representations of their contentious royal journey.
